First off, I apologize for the late posting of this. I had several fist-through-monitor issues during the scanning of this book. Due to the scanning software issues, I was not able to edit and crop some of the pages.
However, without further delay, I present to you.. drum roll
Runescape: The official handbook!
This book was written to help newcomers understand Runescape a little better. Obviously this book is very much outdated and the information in the book is not accurate anymore. The purpose of posting this book is to show players how much the game has changed from 1998 until now.
As some players have pointed out in my previous post, this book is still available on Amazon. If you have enjoyed this nostalgia read, I highly recommend purchasing this history book!
Runescape has been apart of our lives as well as millions others around the world. From 1998 until now, the game has taken many changes. Some of these changes players enjoyed, and some have made players very upset. Regardless, Runescape is a great game that has influenced all of our lives. The fact that the game is still going strong is proof of our love and devotion to the game, as well as Jagex. Lets make sure our community stays strong. When you see a player struggling with anything, help them out.
Mods of Jagex and/or mods of the sub, I do not wish to cause any issues with the posting of this book. If any copyright issues are brought up, please delete this post and well as inform me immediately so I can take down the imgur photos.
Thank you all for reading and enjoy this book!
P.S. I would like to thank my girlfriend for scanning the remaining pages while I was at work so I could post this earlier for you guys!
Anything with a dedicated nvidia graphics card will run nxt pretty dang well, I currently have a laptop with a 630m from 4 years ago and I get about 70fps on medium settings, but it overheats so I cap my fps to about 27 with rivatuner statistics server
That 630m is from 4 years ago though, most modern gaming laptops will have a 930m+, any of those should do really well. The 960m is kind of the standard laptop gpu at the moment for medium-high end laptops. For 400 you should be able to atleast get a 940m or a 950m.
Other than the gpu, just make sure it's atleast an i3 processor, like 4-8 gigs of ram minimum, and a 7200rpm or ssd-type hard drive for faster startup speeds
r/SuggestALaptop is a really helpful source of info
I'll be getting a Dell inspiron with a 960m here in about a week so I can report back with how it does after that lol, but someone else here on Reddit said they had roughly the same laptop and got like 100fps on ultra lol
Really as long as you get a dedicated nvidia gpu alongside an Intel processor, it's gonna do pretty good
The only really shitty laptops for rs just have an "integrated" Intel gpu that comes for free with the processor
https://youtu.be/Nfz46HXvPLc
It is still double the budget, but it is something that might give some decent chance of better performance low budget laptops coming out next year (though at price of 600 USD, there are better options available right now).

though for a really good laptop for everything, there's this beast. Can watch a video about it as well.
Another possible option at around 700 USD.
One big place to find options is to simply youtube search and google terms such as "Best budget gaming laptop" etc.
>I am considering this one.
>Im only looking to get 30fps+ on low-med settings
Hmm...
The answer is yes. I had to look up relevant hardware comparisons, to what I've tried in the past during the NXT closed betas. It will easily run minimum, and medium at 60fps I'm sure. The i5-7200U (gross. >.>) in that laptop far outstrips my old Core2 Quad Q6600, so that's good. The GeForce 940MX in it wipes the floor with my GT 9600, too - which retained 50fps on high.
Links to comparisons:
So if medium/minimum is all you're aiming for, then it's perfectly fine.
Edit: I just want to say, please keep the laptop off any soft surfaces like carpet or a blanket whilst playing RuneScape. Also, be sure to keep vSync on at all times. Laptops are prone to overheating to begin with, so you don't need RuneScape turning it into your own personal frying pan.
Join Bing Rewards!
Referral Link.
So, Bing, as a search engine, is pretty desperate in attracting people to use their service. With Google as their major competitor, they have resorted to actually paying people to use their search engine. Everyday (sometimes twice a day) the Bing Rewards site updates and allows you to earn up to about 27 points on a regular day (that translates to about 27 cents). Might not sound like much, but if you own two Bing Rewards accounts and couple them with Pogocheats (does the searches for you), and do your searches everyday (literally 5 clicks a day and AFK), you can earn enough points to order two $5 Amazon cards which is just enough to supplement any Runescape addiction!
You should always buy the $5 Amazon card, not the $3. The $3 comes faster but it is not worth the points spent.
It's great. I haven't paid a cent for membership in over a year.
I strongly suggest this one:
Acer Aspire E 15 E5-575G-57D4 15.6-Inches Full HD Notebook (i5-7200U, 8GB DDR4 SDRAM, 256GB SSD, Windows 10 Home), Obsidian Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LD4MGY4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_.y0FzbRR73KN2
It's a bit more, but you get a lot more headroom, and can run smooth 60fps most of the time. I was getting solid 60s constantly- albeit running min settings because I preferred it. Mid max settings ran smooth too.
You'll also benefit a lot from the ssd for load times etc.
The laptop was 550 when I got it, but is still best in price range right now.
Thought I might put this out there.
It's over your budget, but comes prebuilt at a great price (sum of the parts is more than the computer), and runs most games comfortably at 1080p high detail.
In order to play relatively new games on a laptop you're going to need a laptop with an integrated graphics card (GPU). Unfortunately, gaming laptops in the price range you are looking for are pretty unheard of due to the extra cost of the graphics card.
This is the cheapest I could find with a decent graphics card, although its slightly out of your price range, it's a very good laptop for the price.
Acer Aspire 5 with GeForce 940MX - $579.99
https://www.amazon.com/Acer-E5-575G-57D4-15-6-Inches-Notebook-i5-7200U/dp/B01LD4MGY4
Your other option would be to wait for Nvidia's MX150 cards to be more widely available, the MX150 is quite a bit faster than the 940MX, however its in a similar pricing segment of machines.
Here is a Youtube review by Dave2D reviewing an Acer Aspire 5 with the MX150, he raves about the performance for the price, although I wasn't able to find a current product listing for this machine, i don't think it is on shelves yet:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=al_5-BDDFPs
Your other option would be to try finding a used laptop online (like off of Craigslist), you can get a significant discount by buying gently used instead of brand new.
You're very limited with what you can get for that budget. Laptops are more expensive than desktops. To get a laptop equal in performance to a desktop, you have to spend at least twice more.
You're likely going to have to settle for a laptop with an integrated graphics chip instead. Finding a capable laptop that has both a decent processor and a dedicated GPU is going to be really tough unless a miracle happens and it goes on sale.
Increasing your budget by $100 would put you in reach of a dedicated GPU. Is that not possible?
This is the laptop in question: https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-E5-575G-53VG-Laptop-Windows/dp/B01DT4A2R4/ref=sr_1_3?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1482502812&sr=1-3&keywords=NVIDIA+940MX
The only issue with this is storage. It only has a 256GB SSD. While SSD's are faster than traditional hard drives, you won't have as much storage. I believe you can buy external storage devices, though.
This seems to be an example of what you can get for your budget: https://www.amazon.com/HP-i5-5200U-Processor-Certified-Refurbished/dp/B01L9KC8DG/ref=sr_1_8?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1482503312&sr=1-8&keywords=intel+i5+laptop
The problem is integrated graphics. I'm not sure how good the Intel HD 5500 is when it comes to running NXT but upping the GPU may not be possible for your budget. Looking around, this combo seems to be generally what your money can buy.
There's probably other sites to buy from, but I trust Amazon the most + they deliver quickly if covered by Prime.
Is this choice of word a clever social commentary on Treasure Hunter?
Elusive vs Illusive
From Amazon -- note Amazon currently has a sale for 20% off Treasure Hunter keys if anyone is interested
Can always get him a RS Gamecard from the store which will give them membership.
He/she might get a kick out of this. It's completely dated and not useful, but its kind of a nostalgia thing and something to flip through and laugh at. He/she'd be entertained.
http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-G600-Gaming-Mouse-Black/dp/B0086UK7IQ I use this, similar to the Naga, cheaper, and it works well. Having 12 buttons isn't overkill at all, it's very useful for keybinds. :)
Try Amazon
I know this is what I used to pay with a Visa card; Best of luck!
Edit: Another thing you can try is maybe putting the Visa card on a paypal account, and try using it through the RS website.
https://www.amazon.com/CYBERPOWERPC-Xtreme-GXiVR8020A-Gaming-Desktop/dp/B01HNBLHAA Other people more wise than I can pass judgement on it, but I've been enjoying this so far :)
My guess, based on your responses so far, is that you have had bad experience with laptops because you bought something off the shelf because the price was right instead of it being what was best for what you wanted. If that is the case, no matter how much better the linked system is than your current laptop, you would see only negligible improvements. The reason is that all in ones, like cheaper laptops, don't have any room for air flow, and no options for custom cooling. So, all of your components will get hot more easily, and your performance will suffer.
If you're totally against a custom, then I would look at something like this https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Desktop-i5-7400-Windows-TC-780-AMZKi5/dp/B01N5SXZY8/ref=sr_1_24?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1492193601&sr=1-24&keywords=ibuypower
with an Asus 23" gaming monitor for ~125.00, you're looking at close to the same price. I don't recommend acer, but this would give you better results than what you linked.
Yes, you can buy membership with Amazon gift cards.
http://www.amazon.com/30-Day-Membership-RuneScape-Instant/dp/B008BKEWMI
RuneScape membership is not currently offered on Itunes.
Here's a pretty good pre-built bang for the buck desktop: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HNBLHAA/ref=s9_simh_gw_g147_i2_r?ie=UTF8&fpl=fresh&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=&pf_rd_r=G0Q2WWE1CPP403Z2V68Q&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=14bf09e4-93c8-43ff-8639-e7979e7d1787&pf_rd_i=desktop
Budget? Country? Currency? How high do you want the settings?
If the budget stretches to $870 USD, and you want essentially ultra graphics, consider the following:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DT49XN8/
Quad-core processor, GPU equivalent to a desktop 750 ti (which does work at ultra detail), 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD storage (much faster than a regular HDD), 1080p monitor, good WiFi, etc.
Like others have said, you're better off just building a desktop for gaming. If you really do need a laptop, then I would suggest something cheap like chromebook.
If you really do insist on getting a laptop, this one is a nice one under 1000. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01DT49XN8/ref=gp_aw_ybh_a_4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=AJQB23GCBJ5S1N6DDXFH
Unfortunately it does not meet a 500 dollar budget. You might not find any decent ones that can run Runescape well for 500 dollars.
Look for a laptop that runs a SSD. NXT client is shit using a hard drive.
Is this Acer Aspire E5-575-33BM similar in price to the one you're looking at?
This Acer has a better iGPU (Intel HD 620) and a higher resolution display (makes a difference for outside of gaming, you can fit more windows onscreen)
I have this mouse, lots of buttons and way cheaper than other mmo mouses. works great.
There's a book about RuneScape you can read: https://www.amazon.com/RuneScape-Betrayal-T-S-Church/dp/1848567227
Someone also made a PDF of RuneScape history. It has over 400 pages. Very interesting read.
http://rshistory.com/downloads/TheHistoryOfRuneScape.pdf
EDIT: There are 3 books you can read. They are all on Amazon. I believe they are also canon.
https://www.amazon.com/RuneScape-Canifis-T-S-Church/dp/1848567278/ref=pd_bxgy_14_img_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=ABDRACDX43KNKPW0WYKF

Amazon has it. I bought a copy from Amazon for like $10 a couple years ago, not sure why the price went up so much.
NXT is replacing Java in 2-3 months.
Buy a PC for NXT not Java. NXT requires a powerful GPU to max unlike Java.
This would likely max NXT at 60fps.

Might I recommend this mouse to you? I've been using one for a year now and it makes a worold of difference with both PvM and skilling alike.
The way i used my was going through Amazon Here or by going to Amazon and looking up runescape.
Anything with a dedicated gfx card will destroy that thing, this one would perform 2x better easily, it also has an SSD and runs at 1080p. It's more expensive but is much higher performance per dollar.
I don't think Jagex does directly, but I believe Amazon does have black friday sales on their Runescape Membership Cards
You can probably buy membership via Amazon, though it might be a bit more expensive:
https://www.amazon.com/30-Day-Membership-RuneScape-Instant/dp/B008BKEWMI?th=1
It's usually this ofeer, just with a reduced price.
Don't worry, if it occurs it usually is highlighted here on Reddit.

Not as high quality as a Corsair Scimitar or a Razer Naga but it's cheaper.
