The structure of the claims might vary depending on the source but a good source of information are the videos you can find at https://www.resdac.org/workshops/intro-medicare. Check out the rest of the resdac website as well. This book is pretty good but might not match your claims exactly if you work with a contractor as opposed to a research organization.

There are lots of nuances using Medicare claims data that you will have to learn. Hopefully you have someone with experience to guide you. The learning curve is rather steep but not insurmountable. If you come across specific questions please post them here.

Hi there!

You can find used copies of the SAS Certification Prep Guides on Amazon here and here. The e-book versions may be a good option. The Third Edition is the latest for the Base Prep Guide and the Fourth Edition is the latest for the Advanced Prep Guide, you'll want the most current versions!

Also, the SAS Programming 1: Essentials training course that is recommended for the Base certification is available at no cost in e-Learning format.

Additionally, you can find free tutorials here

Sample questions here as well.

I hope this helps! Good luck!

I had to take a SAS course through my MPH program. I am not a programmer/computer person at all, but we used this book for the course. Obviously, we had a professor and weren't teaching ourselves, but I think this would be pretty useful without instruction. As for using SAS initially, I would totally recommend The Little SAS Book.

I used this dataset in my Data Mining course at Uni: https://www.kaggle.com/c/GiveMeSomeCredit

Also, if you want to get into Credit Scoring look into getting this book: https://www.amazon.com/Credit-Risk-Scorecards-Implementing-Intelligent/dp/047175451X

Everyone I know who are into Credit Scoring either learned from this book or from a mentor who learned from this book.

Hope those help.

Hi,

Some links to get you started:

http://www.sas.com/en_us/software/university-edition.html SAS University Edition (free download).

SAS e-Learning courses (only 2 are free though).

Also, if you're into books, I can highly recommend "The little SAS book" and "SAS for Dummies" as good started books into the world of SAS. You can probably find them in a library, but they're also available for purchase as ebooks:
SAS for Dummies and
The Little SAS Book

Many universities have SAS courses available on-line as well. Here are a few examples:

UCLA
UTK

If you're going pharma or CRO you likely want to learn CDISC standards and reporting as well. There's lots of public information on that online.
