I believe that wouldn't work because those 30 watt drivers output DC power for LEDs, but lamps like you linked are designed to work with AC power. Although the Tradfri bulbs are LED, they are designed to work with AC power and have a small driver built in, where as the panel you linked requires an external driver.

There are a couple ways to approach this:

  • use a tradfri bulb in the lamp you are building
  • use a zigbee switch at the wall, like this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019HTH2A0

    I'm not sure if the Tradfri hub supports that kind of in wall switch, but if you're interested in a project like this you probably ought to consider larger options. Ikea is just one maker of zigbee bulbs and accessories (Tradfri). There is a whole zigbee ecosystem. If Tradfri won't work with the wall switch, you could get a Wink hub that will work with both your Tradfri bulbs and the switch.

I too speculate that it could be related to this, but in fact Hue has worked with outlets for a long time - Philips themselves produced an outlet for their LivingWhites range, the Osram Lightify/Smart+ outlets are compatible, and as I mentioned there are other on/off ZigBee 3.0 controllers that work with Hue - including a plug.

I would love to hear from people who have investigated this (e.g. have some insight into how the new ZigBee 3.0 outlets like this are reporting themselves and how that differs from the Tradfri outlet). I will do a bit more research myself, e.g. certification details, and see if these models are supported in deCONZ/zigbee2mqtt - see how they tick.

I’ve experienced the same and agree.
Hue bulbs get dimmer, the quality of the light feels better, and the transitions are smoother.
That said, my house has 23 Trådfri shades of white, 3 Trådfri 1000lm warm white and 2 Trådfri colors. However, 14 of those lights are the 400lm with the smaller base (I bought some E26 E27 to E12 Adapters like these to be able to have dim bulbs for our bedrooms.
Having the whole house would’ve costed a whole lot more with hue. Doing it all over again, I’d pick the whole house Trådfri rather than just a few rooms that are hue. It makes all of the difference making scenes with a whole home. However if cost is not an issue, I would probably go with hue, they are a better product.

Yeelight strip

Lifx strip (still expensive but no hub required)

[More DIY option ](https://www.amazon.com/Nexlux-Wireless-Controlled-Waterproof-Assistant/dp/B072DXFKRH/
)

with the last option you can add extensions easily or right angle connections (if you want to do the back edge of the TV etc.

Something like this is what I used to stop my mother in law from turning off the switch.

I also have same problem for my track lights. This is the only option I found for me if you need smart dimmable plug.

Lutron Caseta dimmable plug

There are bunch of manual dimmable plug as well if you are looking for cheap option.
