I’m a custom wheelchair provider. What you are asking for doesn’t exist. There are some nice half lap trays which do flip away when not being used you can get on Amazon for between $100-200. When you flip the tray away it will rest against the rear wheel. This means the tray will rub against the rear tire when flipped to the side. They flip to the side for transfers. Not for the chair to roll with the tray in that position. It would also damage the tray to be banged into doorways. I’ll include a link to a tray on Amazon. Look carefully at the different styles. Padded are usually provided to support a non-functional arm. Plastic is for functional for writing, reading, or supporting plates/cups.

SHE SHOULD NEVER USE A TRAY FOR SUPPORT WHILE STANDING. IT WILL BREAK AND CAUSE A FALL

Please send a message if you have any questions I can help with

I’d suggest sitting down with her and show the options and all the considerations so she can choose the best fit for what she needs

Last thing, the arms on the chair are desk length (about 9” long). There is a full length arm available (14” long) which will support a tray like on the Amazon link better. Her wheelchair provider may be willing to switch the assembly at no cost if you bring it to them

Eagle scout here and I've been thinking about how to get back camping almost weekly since I got my chair. The absolute best solutions I've come up so far involve a straight leg pop-up tent, this product which turns a 10'x10' pop-up into a walled tent (they also have a 12'x12' option), and something like this cot so I can avoid transferring to and from the floor.

Other options I can suggest would be to rent a yurt or contact a local renn faire/SCA group and ask if anyone is willing to rent out/loan a pavilion tent for the event

If the terrain is not wheelchair friendly and replacing the rear wheels with some "Sumos" or other mountain bike-esque fat knobby tire, and your budget allows I also suggest looking into the Rough Rider wheelchair from Whirlwind. It's a folding all-terrain wheelchair designed so most if not all parts can be sourced from hardware stores if need be, runs about $900 USD.

Good luck with the planning and wishing you much happiness!

Except for the driving faster, the rest should be relatively easy.

  • Cup Holder: My wife likes the Ram Mount products for her cup holder. She uses the cup holder connected to a 6" double socket arm and attached to her chair unitrack with a diamond plate with a 1" ball.

  • Power Socket: We basically bought one of these female outlet plugs but we got it from our local harware store. Her wheelchair technician hooked it up in about 10 minutes when she was in for a different repair. Although we did add a 3 amp fuse in the wiring to be sure not to damage her chair (or use anything that draws too much power)...this was almost 10 years ago and it was the first one he did, so wanted to be careful. Again it was just attached into her unitrack to hold in position. She then uses various standard car chargers depending on what she is doing.

  • LED lights...we haven't done anything permanently (but have had some temporaries that plug into her power socket). But pretty much any type of LED and switch should be easily wireable into your battery.

When I first got my chair I was tired so easily too, using muscles that I didn't use on a regular basis. I bought a book from amazon
The Manual Wheelchair Training Guide. The book was very helpful for me in learning how to just push yourself along without hurting yourself more.

Also Youtube has some videos that are good that teach you basic things.

Hope you find what you are looking for.

To kind of piggyback off of /u/squiiints comment, a cushion can go a long way for comfort. I'm currently using a generic folding wheelchair that I bought on Amazon for $135 (this one), and a gel cushion for $25 (this guy), and they're holding me over just fine until I can afford my custom chair this fall. I take my chair on all kinds of terrain and the gel cushion is a great shock absorber.

Grease monkey fingerless gloves. 10 bucks on amazon. You will find if u start using them u will feel nakid without them. Mine are finally JUST starting to wear out after 6 months. You will have to dry them out after rain but they help for grip even when wet.

I bought this from Amazon and just strapped it around my seat under my chair. I have an 18 in wide seat, and the main body of this bag is 14.5 in, so it works well and only cost $13. I’m sure there are some narrower ones out there if you have a narrower seat width.

I bought something off amazon, it's actually for MMA. It's a stretching thing I use for my legs. Really makes stretching that much easier for me.

Giro Remedy X2 Glove Black, L - Men's https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LKXS7AU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Zu4ODbYCFNENG

These are them, I use them a good bit and I think they are worth it just keeping my hands clean and not hurting all the time. They aren't insulated though so you may need something thicker for winter but those will be harder to use just because they are thicker.

I use this one, as well as a wider version for heavier chair. Worhttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01ABKUS9Q/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1ked very well.

An occupational therapist and/or a vendor will be able to get the seating configuration right.

I have special hinges that let the door open further.

I use stroller hooks on the back of my son's wheelchair to hang his enteral backpack. They are usually plain and black so you don't have to worry about them looking babyish.

http://www.amazon.com/Stroller-Hook-Groceries-Accessory-Guarantee/dp/B00CYRYUXU/ref=sr_1_5?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1407095888&sr=1-5&keywords=stroller+hooks

This is what we are currently using but there are a ton of different styles out there. If it weren't for these stroller hooks ds would be stuck with an IV pole. The only problem is the width (ds uses a 12inch wide Tilite YRA). If you are adult sized then I imagine width issues won't be as much of a headache for you. You just have to make sure the backpack isn't so wide it will rub against the wheels.

I'm using these on my Aero-Z. You have buy 8, but the price is good. You want 78a in hardness because it will give you some shock absorption.

I don't like the way they've designed the spacers (get spacers from a board shop), so you probably want to get some of those, and some bolts unless you have no problems with the stock bolts.

You may need bearings, too, unless can get them out of the stock wheels (I can't). Board shops have these, too. Just get the cheap ones. You're not skating.

In case the link doesn't work, they're Blue Bellies 8 Inline Skate Wheels 76mm 78a, Clear/Blue. $19.44 at Amazon.

Sorry if some of this is redundant--you may already know a lot of it.
