I also upgraded to a mesh router from TP-Link. Mesh routers are great for large homes or if you have your main router in a spot where it doesn't reach the rest of the house. I'm a big fan of TP-Link routers, in general.

You'll save a ton of money over the course of 2 years. Worthwhile investment.

Also, I have a Roku on each TV in the house. Premiere+, Ultra, and Stick. I have found the Stick to be very good for my needs. The Premiere+ and Ultra were on sale when I got them and are great but, honestly, if you are just using it for YouTube TV, the Stick it the best bang for the buck.

Made my favorite steamers the Apple TV and shield work great and wifey approved and was easy to program (some built in ).

The best way to do it is to get a travel router. Chromecast doesn't have an authentication page to get you past hotel WiFi logins where you have to sign in every day. You'll likely never get the Chromecast onto the WiFi. The next hurdle is to get past HDMI input locked TVs, which there's a few tricks on the internet but the most recent hotel I was at I couldn't get around it.

Either way, a travel router is a more secure way to browse the internet while at a hotel. It was a great decision in my book and has allowed me to use my Chromecast at numerous places.

Go with a Roku Streaming Stick+. That way, regardless of what smart TV you buy in the future, you'll have a good external device you can use to stream. Smart apps tend to age poorly, but Rokus tend to have a bit longer life and get supported better.

Travel a lot as well. Best purchase I made for this purpose was a travel router. I use the TP-Link N300 because it has the plug built into the unit.

Go into the router firmware, connect to the hotel Wi-Fi network, use any device with a web browser connected to the router to go through the browser-based authentication, all devices are good to go.

Currently have a Roku Stick as my primary travel device, but it also works with a Chromecast without issue. And, while it may be obvious that this would work there as well, all the equipment in this setup works equally well in both the US and Europe.

I have had a great experience using YTTV on Apple TV. However, using the Apple TV remote with it is very difficult. Therefore, I recommend getting this remote instead and programming it to operate your setup. It really made everything easier to use.

The remote works fine, but it only has a few buttons, so it makes using the device a bit of a challenge. There is an Android TV Remote app which works fine.

I had a Roku plugged in to the ATEM directly. Wouldn’t display anything. Hook it up directly to a TV and it worked fine. Put the Roku through the Splitter and it magically works. Same thing with the Apple TV and the passive HDMI to DVI cable to the TV. It’s stripping the HDCP for certain.

I had the same problem. On one of my televisions I was able to plug my Roku stick into a powered USB. When the TV shuts off, so does the Roku. My other, older TV doesn't have the powered USB. I bought this power strip that has a option to turn off certain devices if the master outlet isn't drawing power. Works great.

I would recommend the streaming stick but the basic version would work fine.

Cables? Unless the ones you have specifically say they support 18Gbps, they probably don't.

Get an antenna like this one I bought. Then you'll get all the local affiliates for free for rest of your life in full HD and with less of a video delay than cable/satellite/or any streaming service.

All the streaming services have problems with local affiliates in some way or another. It's hard to get the rights for the thousands of different stations across the country.

You could try this USB cable that is suppose to be able to power a Roku through your tv USB port. I haven't tried it though and you will have to sit through the boot up process everytime

Allows your phone, DNLA devices etc. to access the tuners over the network. It's actually so integrated into the Sony Bravia that my TV acts like I plugged the antennae right into my television even though it's just a box on the network.

I used it mainly for cubs games on WGN (and ABC used to be blacked out but the most recent year it wasn't) but now with the Cubs getting their own network (Marquee) probably won't even use it anymore. PBS is supposed to be coming to all of YTTV quite soon.

Here's your fix - and I'm being 100 percent serious. It has completely removed my frustration when using YTTV on ATV. Having tactile directional buttons is such an improvement from that stupid trackpad, or whatever it's called. No, the old remote doesn't support volume control, but since I rarely need to change the volume once I'm watching, that doesn't bother me. Give it a shot. (EDIT: It also requires line of sight and doesn't use Siri, or any voice commands.)
