I picked up some of these I keep all my potentials in just a tray with some dirt like OP. But once one starts getting a good bud and some roots, I move them to a cell. It's my first time experimenting, but it's going really really well. I also have been throwing cuttings from various sources into cells and those are doing great also. The idea is they can live in the cell until they're pretty much ready to pot.

Here’s a cheaper option if you just want the black cells

I soak them in plain water for about an hour, then give them a squeeze and place them in something like this:

I do the angle cut/scrap the stem thing and dip them into CloneX. I don't know if it's the best, but my local shop had a great deal on the 15 ml packets so I stocked up.

Once the 6 pack tray is done, I put it into something like:

https://www.amazon.com/Clone-Tray-Tray-Dome-kit/dp/B01EVVS51O/ref=lp_14252901_1_4/139-0862065-7861508?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1504109297&sr=1-4

Vents closed and I spray with a water once a day for about a week then start opening the vents. I also make sure there is some water in the bottom of the big tray. I put them under T5 light.

Hopefully that helps. Good luck!
