John Mack also wrote A Prince of Our Disorder: The Life of T. E. Lawrence about the most famous British spy in history, a psychological study of the homosexual man into sado-masochism and pederasty, among other things. I wonder what 'our' the title refers to. ( ⚆ _ ⚆ ) Just sayin'

Here's an example of why I have doubts about John Mack. His first book was about a famous British spy. What's his fascination with this particular subject? Also the fact he was professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School is itself a red flag. The role of this institution in cultural management should concern everyone. I'm tempted to read his book about Lawrence to see if it even mentions pederasty or is just pure white-washing. Even David Lean's glamorous movie didn't quite ignore that subject.
