The issue is, there are no 144hz 1440p monitors yet. But there probably will be in 12-18 months I imagine.

The best right now is the acer or asus 100hz 1440p gsync monitors or if you want freesync (and don't mind VA panels) then there are the new samsung and korean one.

Ye personally I find little difference between 4k and 1440p.

The Rift being 750€ with two games (let's say 60€ for the bundle) and an Xbox Controller (50€) with shipping (50€ is high, but it's probably not in a small light box) makes it 490€ for the Rift alone.
