If you aren't planning on plugging in any capes or peripherals USB should be fine. If you are using peripherals (wifi, etc) with the your beaglebones you should power them from the barrel connector with a 2A supply. An alternative would be to buy something like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01B1QKLQ4/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1503268024&sr=8-1-spons&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=5v+20a+power+supply&psc=1 and wire in your own barrel plugs.

It depends on the cluster. Some people actually pick up a straight up 5V supply like this and then run in through the GPIO pins from bottom to top in a stack so they don't really have any visible power wires. It's a bit more work but it can look nice when finished.

More often though you'll see the 5-6 port chargers and short microUSB cables. You can get 1.5' or 3' ones for cheap from Monoprice, usually the shorter the better.
