And for $10 more you get http://www.amazon.com/AMD-FX-8150-8-Core-Edition-Processor/dp/B005UBNLFK/ref=pd_cp_e_3

...or for about $35 less you get this http://www.amazon.com/AMD-FX-8120-8-Core-Edition-Processor/dp/B005UBNKZG/ref=pd_cp_pc_0

So again...why on earth would anyone throw an Intel into a roll-your-own box? Hey, if you have a $5000 budget and don't give a shit about money...but otherwise I just don't get it.

I wouldn't suggest changing multiple things at the same time.

I.E if you had an AMD card and purchased a new OS plus an nVidia card at the same time and try to switch them out, you're gonna have a bad time.

If for some reason you cant install W8 before installing the new card, format a secondary drive and install W8 to that with the new card installed. Once its loaded, then download the drivers for your new card.

Also with that kind of hardware I'd suggest upgrading to this cpu when you can. It's a much needed improvement.
