No one in this thread dare say this is a new trend. It's not even exclusive to video games. Games of chance for items of no real value have been around for years, almost always aimed towards children.

Listen, I disagree with everything that those two did in the CS:GO Lotto scandal, but games of chance that give valueless items in return have been done and dealt with on a legal basis. They've been around for years, and as long as Valve doesn't give any single item an actual monetary cost that can then be traded through their own channels for real money, CS:GO skins fall into this category too.
That being cleared up, if that's the way gaming goes, so be it. There's not much anyone can do about the inclusion of a publicly successful, and profitable mechanic.
