You can find some high quality figures for $50 and under if that fits your price range. Check out http://dragonballfigures.boards.net and look at some of the figures there. Google ones that you like and see how much they are.
My recommendations are Bandai SH Figuarts (Kuririn, Goku, Piccolo, Android 18, SSJ Goku are all under $50), Bandai Figuarts Zero (SSJ Goku, SSJ Vegeta, SSJ Future Trunks, Frieza), Banpresto SCultures, Banpresto HQ DX, and Bandai HG Gashpon (small figures less than 2 inches tall). Essentially anything made by Bandai or Banpresto is the highest quality and the best bang for your buck.
You can sometimes get good prices on eBay but DO NOT buy figures from China. They are most likely fakes and extremely poor quality. Only buy from Japan or USA sellers.

I love that line. I picked up Trunks myself for $38 and had it signed by Eric Vale.
