Dude I got a BIC sound bar, and I was surprised how horrifying it sounds LOL.
If anyone is in a market for a surround sound sound bar, I highly recommend this one. http://amzn.com/B002IT1FFU
You could just put a really good center channel speaker there - the majority of sound from TV and movies is mixed in the center anyway; alternatively, a speaker bar such as this bic.
It also looks like you could put 3 identical LCRs on that stand (which is an ideal setup anyway). There wouldn't be much separation between them but the sound quality would be great compared to a sound bar. However I'd imagine the WAF probably low. If you could find some short & narrow speaker stands, it looks like you could fit the L&R on stands.
With all of this of course the receiver has to go somewhere
One decent center
Haven't heard it myself, but for the price it would probably be exactly what OP is looking for.
If you go soundbar....
Go BIG.
