Well basically a set up is puzzle you can build up over time. Planar 2 is a solid table that you wouldn't need to upgrade for years, don't know if it comes with a cover though. It is a solid table built around delivering the best sound from the cartridge to the amp. Now one big part of how your records will sound is the cart, the one the planar 2 comes with is totally fine for start but you will want to upgrade it pretty soon. I would recommend you to take a look at this Pro-ject Debut Carbon Esprit. Mainly because it is more bang for the buck imo (electronic speed switch and speed control, carbon arm, acrylic platter and a way better cartridge), but that is totally an opinion.

Now for the rest of the set up I would suggest buying the preamp separate. For example this Cambridge phono preamp is a solid starting point. There are two reasons for this, you can easily switch it to a new one down the line and you can get some money back for it.

The second one is that you can start by getting powered speakers, for example these Audio engine A5+ and down the line upgrade to an amp and bookshelf speakers. Powered speakers are a totally valid option nowadays and these will give a detailed sound with the table. They are also way easier to get your cash back when moving forward.

What I linked up there is a pretty solid setup focusing in sound for a pretty rough 1000 when done trough amazon.

Looking to spend up to $1k on speakers or other upgrades (if needed) (Tampa, FL prefer online ordering). Does it make sense to upgrade the speakers at this point? The system sounds great, but I wonder if the smaller bookshelf speakers may be the “bottleneck” in my system. I currently have a home theater 5.1 type system with a dedicated subwoofer. What do you all think/recommend to take this setup to the next level? Thanks!

/r/vinyl but be a better place try for information. I'm not sure I've seen a lot of vinyl users here.

But the Cambridge Audio Azur 551P and [Azur 651P] (http://www.amazon.com/CAMBRIDGE-AZUR-651P-PREAMP-BLACK/dp/B0079OA0UU) both seems to be a solid choice and well under your budget.

What was the model of your old turntable? It may have a built in phono line already.

I also think recommendations also depend on your location due to shipping.

Most would say with that budget, it would be better to buy a standalone phono and spend the rest on a receiver/amplifier. I'm not well versed enough with amplifiers to give a good suggestion.

Recently, there was this Yamaha stereo integrated amp model on the front page with praise from this post, using a Pro-Ject table and the Yamaha via phono. Perhaps you can inquire from there about the model.

I use an Onkyo A-9050 integrated stereo amp with a Cambridge Azir 655p phono stage. Though from various reviews online, the Schiit Mani is a better deal price wise. The one issue is that it is made in the US so I don't know if they ship internationally.
