If money is a big factor, then the 700D would be just fine. It has a solid 18 megapixels, and good enough ISO performance that you definitely won't be at a big disadvantage.

The added Wi-Fi in new cameras is silly to me. I don't want to post a shot to facebook straight out of the camera, and I don't want to edit it on my phone. So even though my new camera has a similar feature via Bluetooth, I only ever used it once just to see how it worked.

Sure the 750D has a few more megapixels, and a bit better ISO, but if you're just getting your first DSLR then none of that will matter.

You'll do well to spend any extra money on lenses. After the 18-55mm kit lens, the next affordable ones you should look at would either be:

55-200mm so you have enough zoom for some light wildlife, travel, or sports shooting.

50mm f1.8 since everyone should have an f1.8 lens.

18-135mm if you want to consider getting rid of the 18-55 and replacing it with one lens which can go all the way from wide angle to telephoto.

Thanks! I was up in Section 309 using a Canon EF 55-200mm f/4.5-5.6 II USM Telephoto Lens attached to my Canon Digital Rebel XT camera. I bought the lens used when I bought the camera back in 2006, but it still gets me good results. :D

Oh you mean like this one. Once again. $225 on Amazon is not anywhere outside of the range of a low income person in the US. That's what I paid for my first 35mm SLR when I was 20 making $8.00 / hr.

And this Could very well be the lense. Or hell, it could be one of the cheaper chinese made lenses that go for about 1/2 that. Or it very well could be a Rebel XTi with the nice IS Lense, which would be in the $800-1200 total. Point is it's a stupid thing to say when you don't know anything. I can tell you now, it's not any of the "Pro" series like the 5D Mark II or 1DS, because the selection dial on those cameras is on the opposite side of the lense. It's also probably not the IS lense, because she would then have the hood that comes with the lense on it (that is if she even faintly knows how to use a telephoto lense).
