I currently have (now for 4+ years) the Canon ix6520 although the newer wireless version is the Canon ix6820 and it is incredible! I bought mine when it was $200+ but I guess prices have dropped now.


What I love about it:

• It's wider format (I've done 1 2x18" paper easily as well as 4"x6" backto back)
  
  
• The ink is easy to replace - I buy non OEM inks for cheap on Amazon and they last a loooong time (I printed about 1000 greeting cards without needing to change cartridge at one point)
  
  
• Maintenance has been incredibly easy
  
  
• I've used 120# cover in it as well as inkjet photo paper, stickers, and regular 20# printer paper - feeds it well
  
  
• the quality is GREAT, I've had almost little to no streaking, and if there is usually it's low on ink or the printer head just needs to be realigned which is easy to do on the printer settings.

I had a couple of Epson WF-3640 All in One printers. Output was great, but unfortunately I didn't use them enough and the nozzles clogged from lack of use. Most of my ink consumption was to clean the nozzles, until they would not clear. And... as expected, the ink was pricey. I gave up on the Epson printers as I still don't print a lot in color.

The replacement is a Canon PIXMA iX6820 along with a box of replacement ink carts from Arthur Imaging. This printer has sat for months with no adverse issues. The replacement ink was inexpensive - about $20 for 28 assorted carts. We can't see any difference between the Canon and Arthur Imaging inks. We haven't done stickers yet, but have printed on regular and photo papers as well as card stock. We have made magnets by printing on paper, attaching to a magnet sheet and cutting out the photo. A lamination kit helps protect them from the weather if used outdoors. We've also made gift tags, 4 x 6 recipe cards, and address labels using Avery products with Avery templates and other templates we found online.

I'm not sure if you need a special type of ink for the stickers, but if this meets your requirements, I would consider this or another similar Canon printer.

Some sticker papers don't work on one type of printer but work on another, so you'll have to be sure whatever sticker paper you buy is compatible with your printer type.

You'd be really hard-pressed to find a color laser printer for under $200.

Because you intended to use this printer, at least in part, for business - you might want to first consider getting a reliable black & white laser printer. Consider the Canon imageCLASS MF229dw. This feature-packed model will print, scan, copy, and fax, and will do FULL DUPLEX in ALL modes (full automatic double-sided printing, copying, scanning, faxing), which is an extremely nice feature that is not found on many printers these days.

Unlike an inkjet, laser printer toner will never dry out, so there is no worry if you only print occasionally. This printer has an automatic document feeder, and comes with Ethernet, Apple Airprint, Wi-Fi and also supports tablet and smartphone printing. It's very fast at 28ppm and costs only $149 on Amazon with FREE shipping.

Generic toner cartridges can easily be found for around $10 on Amazon and eBay, which make this printer extremely cheap to operate. I would recommend picking up a separate color printer with the money you have left over - you would still come in well under budget.

The Canon PIXMA iX6820 is an excellent choice for a color printer, loaded with features including wireless, Ethernet, Cloud printing, 5-color accurate color ink system, and handle 13x19" wide paper for impressive large format photo quality posters. Amazon's ridiculously cheap protection plan is only $7.68 for 3-years on this printer.

With a $250 budget, for your use-case I would buy 2 printers: 1) a cheap monochrome MFP for color scanning and b&w copy/print, and 2) a single-function photo inkjet. This gives you the best of both worlds and provides you a backup. Canon MF247dw ($125) plus a Canon IX6820 ($136). If/when the inkjet clogs, you simply rip and replace, without interrupting your MFP workflow. Slightly more than $250 but way more flexible than a single inkjet burdened with doing all jobs.

If you must have only one box, the HP OfficeJets are good, especially for just standard letter-size printouts, but they lack rear paper feeds, which are typically better for card stock or photo paper, and also so you don't have to remove/re-add media out of just 1 tray. I'd look at the Brother MFC-J5845DW ($199) for starters.

One last point - the SD card slot. You see it offered on photo inkjets, but not on much else. Better to just get a USB adapter to plug the SD card into, then plug the adapter into the printer. The quality of the adapter's reader will often be better anyways.
