Yep. I use an xbox controller for windows, works well after a bit of fiddling with the dead zones. I've got the left analogue set for pitch and roll, the right one for yaw, the AXYB buttons are toggle SAS, toggle gear, action group 1, and brake respectively. The two bumper buttons are throttle down (LB) and throttle up (RB).

IMO, it's the best controller ever apart from the d pad.

Okay sounds good, other than the X being on the middle button is there other ways of identifying real from fake, not sure who to trust even game sell generic controllers online and there not tagged as "official" even though they look the part.

For the ps3 controller you need unofficial firmware and to have it emulate a 360 controller, of which there are many guides on the internet.

360 is supported but you need a special type, PS3 is cheaper if you already have one but a little more finicky.

It's the same garbage manufactured in China like all the others. I'm not willing to pay a premium to fund your greedy ass Nintendo.

I'll second recommendation above, I've used cheap generic controllers (usually with JoyToKey as the software) and even tried with a PS4 controller but when I bought a genuine Xbox 360 for £22 it just works without any problems.


Not sure how much you will pay in US but shouldn't be hugely different

As someone who has played on both Controller and K/M and mostly plays games on K/M, I have to say that for BotW a controller feels nicer to me.

If anyone was wondering I personally use a wireless Xbox 360 Controller and Receiver.

I would probably suggest an Xbox One controller though, considering the battery life on 360 Controllers is eight hours on 2800mAh rechargables. This means I have to cycle using four rechargeables, two on charge two in controller to avoid the expense of disposables.


That said, if it's cheaper for you to buy a 360 controller, receiver and rechargables, or you don't mind wired, do that instead, there's very little advantage otherwise.

I'm playing as a space Jack Burton and a wired XB360 controller is serving me really well. I've changed a few of the bindings and unless I get in a fight I don't need to touch the keyboard or mouse.

Get one. - It's a relatively small investment that makes a lot of games much more enjoyable.
