I would recommend something like this Lenovo or this Dell

Even then expect to play these games on Medium settings (PUBG is notoriously unoptimized). Unfortunately you can't really get a decent gaming laptop for less than about $1,200 unless you're going refurbished or waiting for some really great deals.

The 1060 (that the Dell has) is a better card than the 960m that the Lenovo has but they both look like rather sturdy products besides that.

[This is honestly what you should get if you want to do lightweight gaming](

its better price to performance than the XPS. If you had your heart set on the XPS, get the 1,300 model as it has a dedicated GPU which is a must for gaming now a days.

Edit: Link'd on Amazon

i am using a dell laptop, i7-7700HQ, 16g ram, 1050gtx, ssd $800 about a year ago.

Here is the Amazon link for it.

I have no problems running the Sims 4. (at highest settings)

I have tons of mods and cc and have had no issues with lag.

I ended up buying this laptop because I liked the specs more- https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B06XVQF486

But I have a USB Midi/audio interface for my sound, so the on board sound isn't a problem

Thanks for the links, the shopineer one helped out a lot! After searching around for a bit I think Im gonna go with the Dell i5577-7700BLK-PUS. Its pretty much an Inspiron 7000 but a little cheaper.

  • Intel Core i7-7700HQ Quad-Core
  • 15.6" IPS 1920 x 1080
  • 12 GB RAM
  • 128 SSD
  • 1 TB HHD
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 with 4 GB GDDR5 VRAM
  • Windows 10 Home
  • 5.66 lbs.

No type-c which is a shame, but its $200ish cheaper and Im not sure how much I will end up using it anyway... Though I do have a type-c phone...

    Anywho, any thoughts?

I am still looking actually :)
I am currently contemplating between two dell's Inspiron 7000 configurations:

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/dell-inspiron-15-6-laptop-intel-core-i5-8gb-memory-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1050-ti-256gb-solid-state-drive-black/5872507.p

I am leaning towards the first but have some second thoughts due to the lower quality TN panel and some mixed reviews regarding it's performance on non gaming tasks (which are apparently linked to the slow HDD it is shipped with). Since I usually work with my LT plugged to a desktop monitor I am not sure if it's a deal breaker or not.... On the other side the second option is I5 and I feel that if I7 is obtainable in this price range it might be a better idea to go with that (though CPU to CPU the differences are slim).

Thoughts/comments are welcome :)

I think this would be a better choice considering your budget: https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-GeForce-Graphics-i5577-7359BLK-PUS/dp/B06XVQF486/

You get a better proccessor, better graphics card, good battery life and a ssd.

It’s got an i7, and a 1050, great laptop gaming performance for a grand. But as the guy above me said, get a chrome book and build a rig. It’ll save money, but if you’re set on a laptop, there you go. Throw in the extra like 50 bucks or whatever it is and get another 8GB stick of RAM.

Good luck comrade.

hmm I can think of a few that match most of your needs by not all, like the acer VX missing the 1 TB of storage and not the needed battery life (4-5.5 with average usage), or This ideapad not great battery life and weaker GPU, or the Clevo N850HK1 again not great battery life and no IPS (which might be needed for video/photo editing), so what about the Dell Gaming Inspiron 15 because it comes with everything you need , i7 quad core CPU which is one of the best in the market and great for gaming, 8 GB of ram for smooth multitasking, Good SSD storage of 256 GB for faster boot up and loading, 1 TB of HDD for storage, Full HD screen which is a must have for this price range(not sure if it is IPS or not, but most likely not), Great battery life, 1050 GPU that should be able to handle CSGO on high settings with very good FPs, and it is within your budget.

The i7-6700 is massive upgrade over the i5-7200 and if you're hung up on the SSD, you can buy a better SSD than the one that ships with the Macbook for less than the price difference and install it in 5 minutes... ThinkPads are already a lot more expensive than comparable Windows computers because of their legendary build quality, though, so the fact that you can still get that much of a spec bump versus a comparable Macbook is yet another reason why I think Macbooks are overpriced.

Check out this Dell, for example. No ThinkPad branding and durability, but an i7-7700, 12 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD and 128 SSD, and a GTX 1050 for under $900. It even lets you use USB-A devices without a dongle.

I’ve been looking at the Acer too, budget is definitely a factor for me and it’s cheaper than the Dell. Then again I’m looking on the Dell site because Amazon has ten different options that all seem the same when I search for Dell 7577.

EDIT - Is this the right one? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XVQF486/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_nsqdAbC15QD0T

Right now I’m between that and the Acer Nitro. Doesn’t this Dell have a lower quality display, though?
