Worked in the industry and this is true for HVAC duct work. You don't need to routinely clean your ducts and the only time you should is when there is a health/respiratory problem (allergens) or enough crap to block air, which is hardly ever unless you drop a football down the ducts.

Dryer vent is a different story though and I would recommend if you don't have one of these to get one. Your dryer vent should be kept clean for obvious reasons and will accumulate a ton of shit in them. I have one of these traps. This is downstream from the lint catcher in the dryer and it's unbelievable how much shit the second one collects.

Another thought, the way that hose 90 Degrees up you are going to get alot of lint trapped there. And if you get to much it will heat up and cause that hose to separate.

If it was my house I would attach a 90 Degree metal elbow then attach the hose at a easier to reach place so you could disconnect it and clean it out periodically.

Maybe attach a lint trap. If you dryer doesn't have a good filter on it.
