a few benzalkonium chloride wipes in there would be pretty good too https://www.amazon.com/Antiseptic-Wipe-Benzalkonium-First-Wipes/dp/B000F4SNNW/ they're pretty small in real-estate space so you can shove them in just about anywhere

  • Gloves

  • Note pad/pen (to take notes)

  • CPR barrier

  • One Bloodstopper bandage or Emergency Bandage/Wound Stop/Israeli Bandage

  • Antiseptic wipes - more like these ones

  • Sterile gauze, 4x4 size

  • Medical Tape - 2-3", easily tear-able

  • Triangular bandage

  • Garbage bag or large Zip-Loc bag to throw trash in

  • Cell phone

For your other concerns - dislocations, fractures, etc I would not suggest any splints since you are travelling light. Support the injury site as best as you can until EMS arrives - if you put on a splint chances are that EMS will have to remove it anyway to examine the injury location for themselves.

Also FYI be careful with chemical ice packs...I've had a lot of them leak and they are just nasty to clean up.

Try BZK wipes instead, they don't hurt like alcohol and still get the job done.

Iodine is really only painful on an open wound, on whole skin is should be ok. But BZK wipes would be the alternate choice. The bottom line is that none of these things are going to feel great if they hit mucus membranes. So yeah, you may have to man up a bit. Try the BZK though.

Get yourself some Cranberry pills and take them every day. They really do help prevent the UTI's to begin with....

I honestly don't have much experience with long term wear, so I'm afraid I'm venturing into the realm of speculation here. The idea of something being in my urethra that long doesn't actually appeal to me to much. (Says the guy with a 4 gauge PA ring sticking out of his urethra.) I love how exquisitely sensitive my urethra is, and am terrified that I'll loose sensitivity with long term wear. That being said, take some alcohol wipes, or BZK wipes with you. Wipe down everything you can reach every time you go pee and I'd guess you're likely to be OK. Honestly I don't have a clue though, so if you go through with it, I'd love some anecdotal.

Thanks! I washed it out with tap water after the accident, then used antiseptic wipes on it then covered it with a non stick pad and covered with 3m medipore tape. I think I'll go grab those tegaderm dressings.
