I’ve struggled with hormonal acne my entire life. I’ve had at least one but usually many more pimples every day since I was like 11 years old. Usually nasty whiteheads on my jaw and chin. The only thing that ever really helped was the pill but I went off of it because of mood swings. It really flared up recently at age 27.
THE HOLY GRAIL: Melazepam
My Routine:
AM: Neutrogena hydrating facial cleanser
Thayers witch hazel rose petal toner
Neutrogena oil free moisturizer with spf 30
Ecological Formulas Melazepam Cream
PM: Neutrogena hydrating facial cleanser
Thayers witch hazel rose petal toner
Cerave moisturizing cream
Ecological Formulas Melazepam Cream
If I have extra money which I don’t right now...
AM: Ole Henricksen Truth Serum daily
PM: Sunday Riley good genes and Luna oil 3x week
The melazepam is the HG. I hear people say to use a pea size, but I usually use 1.5 or 2 times that much. I just mix it into my moisturizer and rub it in, and add extra to my chin if it’s angry or as a spot treatment. I think I am more aggressive with it than most people but if I use less it won’t work for me. Just find out how much works for your skin, I found without the moisturizer it can be irritating. I have oily skin.
It took a month to see results and two months for my skin to clear up completely.

Melasma sufferer here. Azelaic acid, mandelic acid, tretinoin, and sunscreens with high UVA protection help with melasma. It takes about six months to see the results and you have to be consistent with these ingredients to prevent melasma recurrence.
Product recommendation:
If you want to see an esthetician, find one that offers Fractional Cell Regeneration (sometimes known as Coral Calcium Peel) or FoxC Peel (sometimes known as Melaless Peel). They deliver faster results than traditional chemical peels. Don't get lasers at esthetician or dermatologist, they will make it worse.

Pure Essence Health has 55,000+ reviews overwhelmingly positive and the product has a grade A on fakespot.
Of course! I remember making posts a year ago and two years ago and desperately awaiting for someone to answer my questions. So I always like to pay it forward!
So to be honest. I stuck with a very basic routine of wash, apply medicated lotions, moisturize, and then sunscreen.
I did that for a long time. Because I was so nervous to add new products in.
Right now, my face wash can be one of two products. My face loves Vanicream, which I get at target. Or I will use La Roche Posay face wash (the non foaming kind. Anything with foam kills my face).
Those two are my HGs in terms of face wash.
CeraVe PM moisturizer is my HG. I use it AM, PM and any time in between. Lol. I love it. I will go through bottles and I don’t care how much it costs.
Elta MD sunscreen is my HG. I love that it’s tinted. It’s a physical barrier rather than chemical. (Which my face hates) it doesn’t smell like sunscreen. It goes on great. It’s bomb.
My big thing was starting facemask sheets. I did a lot of research on what facemasks were best for those with sensitive skin or rosacea. What I found was Leaders Insolution tea tree face masks. My face loves tea tree.
Any of the Leaders facemasks were awesome for me. I still buy them on amazon.
I also did research on Rosacea and chemical exfoliation. I was one of those people who used to rub the horrid St Ives scrub all over my face thinking it was exfoliating. Not realizing that I was damaging my moister barrier. I read on several subreddits that those with Rosacea benefit more from AAs rather than BHAs or AHAs. So I found a thread that recommended Melazepam.

That’s the one I use. I use it every third day or so. It helps chemically exfoliate my skin.
I have FINALLY just started using Witch hazel as a toner. I bought Thayers alcohol free with rose hip in it. And it’s awesome. I apply it after I wash my face and before I moisturize.
I also just bought The Ordinary’s Nicinamide and Zinc serum. It has been wonderful for minimizing pores and helping with the texture of my skin. My face loves nicinamide. ( Which is why CeraVe PM lotion is my HG). And zinc.
To help with redness. I use a a small amount of color correcting primer along with the tinted sunscreen. It works wonders.
Good luck!!
Always recommend the cera ve SA renewal cleanser. It’s amazing and events your skin and brightens it. I actually use the SA renewal body wash, you get a lot and I can use it on my face as well. The Cera Ve SA body lotion is also love, sometimes I use it on my face. Makes body super smooth, these two are dream team.
I think the dream routine:
Am:
Pm:
-melazepam 20% important and alternate between this and Retin a, but not everyone can handle either of these. But it goes to say these are anti-aging power horses
Great products:
Benton snail bee essence (the masks, steam pacts, everything..)
Just a few products to think about. I am by no way saying jump and add any of these to your routine instantly. I’ve looked around and found a lot of, what I’d consider to be talked about products and decided to make it easier and list them for you.
I think a basic SA cleanser like cera ve would be a good place to start, a good spf that is non-irritating. Find a moisturizing Oil thst your skin likes and then maybe start trying actives. Don’t go jumping in until you find a routine that calms your skin and that your skin really likes. Then start testing the waters with maybe azelic acid like melazepem (strongest you can get in us is on amazon) or vitamin c. Possible acid peel pads. We kind of have to know your skin type and current routine. Things that have worked and have not, and what you want out of a new skin routine— in order to give you better direction.
the first azelaic acid I got was from a Bangladesh pharmacy before then I got the gel prescribed here from my dermatologist. I've heard the ordinary one is super thick and hard to spread. I haven't used the skinoren but sca also recommends melazepam https://www.amazon.com/Ecological-Formulas-Melazepam-Cream/dp/B018IVHWRQ. there's also the one by paula's choice with licorice root (helps with lightening hyperpigmentation)
I would if the ingredient worked for me, because your other options in Canada are
a. buy 20% Melazepam off amazon.ca
b. get a prescription for 15% Finacea from a doctor (which will be more expensive unless you have coverage)
Have you tried Melazepam?
