It was worth it for my table, but I also run a tabletop streaming fundraiser every year.
If you're looking for something more reasonable, this model worked well for a friend of mine. (Edit: This mic is single directional, so it's probably best for the remote player rather than the local players.)
I need a desktop microphone just for chatting with friends every now and again don't need much. I have a budget of around £20. So far this looks fine but I really don't know much
Little over budget but considered to be one if the best cheap mics (at least in my opinion). https://www.amazon.co.uk/microphone-Fifine-Condenser-Microphone-Recordings/dp/B01D4I2UM0/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1550612263&sr=8-4&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=fifine&dpPl=1&dpID=419XAaC3lvL&ref=plSrch
Thanks! I record my audio in Audacity and currently I'm just using a pretty cheap USB mic (https://www.amazon.co.uk/microphone-Fifine-Condenser-Recordings-Black/dp/B01D4I2UM0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1504457973&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=usb+microphone&psc=1), which... I mean it's a step-up from my camera audio which I was using to start with but that's really not saying much haha.
I feel like it's either too far away from me and therefore picking up too much background noise, or too close and distorted/picking up every breath and lip smacking noise which I hate also (Grrr!)
So yeah, if you can point me in the direction of what I should be looking in to with regards to a new mic then I'd appreciate that greatly :)

I actually really recommend this mic! The sound quality is pretty good considering the price, it looks stylish and feels like a premium product.
Recently picked up Sennheiser HD599 and now I'm looking for a decent microphone.
I'm looking for a full microphone setup (Mic + any other audio equipment I might need) for VoIP and game streaming which will pick up as little as possible from my keyboard (mechanical, Cherry MX Blue) or mouse and even from my headphones (since they are now open-back) but still provide clear sound for my voice.
I used to use HyperX Cloud 2 and their microphone was perfect as it barely picked up my keyboard at all, but my voice was crystal clear with absolutely no background noise. I'm looking for something that can replicate this.
I checked reviews of ModMic but it seems to pick up more background noise than my old HyperX Cloud 2's mic even in uni mode which is very disappointing considering how much it costs.
I currently own:
Budget: $130 / £100 max, but ideally less (Say half that). It's a bit low, but I'm not looking for production quality. Mostly clarity, no background noise and decent(ish) voice accuracy. I watched this video and the kind of quality seems acceptable but I am not sure if it will eliminate the background noise. I suspect only something that works when really close to the mouth will work for my purposes.
