Most gas fireplace inserts have an outer shell around the inner firebox. You’ll see the gent grates on the top and bottom, those are covering the gap between the shells. If you look in the bottom, you’ll probably find a bunch of stuff for the inner workings of the fireplace. You should also find an electrical outlet. Assuming you do, you can install a blower fan, ether a generic one or one specifically for your fireplace, that will circulate room air around the firebox, warming it.
