My son is 14 months and at that age loved (and still loves) balls, books, his remote control and take along tunes. This activity table is also awesome.
My 17 month old still plays with this one. She even sings the ABC's with it but won't sing them with me lol.

I would also recommend books. You can write a nice massage on the inside cover. It is a nice keepsake.

IKEA has a pop up play tent and crawl tube (BUSA) that terrified them when we first set them up at 12 months, but now at 14 months they're a favorite and will probably last for quite a while.
