This doesn't apply to their sellers though.

Just look at the price hike on June 8th for the Gigabyte GTX 1080 G1 on Amazon UK.

I got a 1080 on my GA and a 4k TV, and I can play almost all my games with ultra settings at 60fps. Some will dip down but overall they are very smooth for me. If you play MMOs or open world games, expect slightly worse performance.

A 1070 will have considerably worse results and if you want a future-proof 4K experience, a 1080 is the minimum you should think really.

When buying a GPU for your amp, assuming you want your amp's lid to be closed, you should be careful with the size of the GPU. Most are too tall for it. I got this one myself https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01GCAW1IA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 and it just fits.

Also, don't worry about bottlenecks. Your i5 is great for most games. You would only see a bottleneck if you were aiming for higher fps on lower than 4k resolutions. At 4k with today's GPUs, the bottleneck will be your GPU even if you would got for a 1080 TI.

Could be a problem with 15 R3 G-Sync screen? I heard that G-Sync may cause some issues.

Hi guys,
I am in the market for a new GPU, currently am rocking dual GTX 960's on a 1440p monitor so am finding it quite hard to play a variety of games at the settings I wish. My lust for card right now is the Xtreme Waterforce edition Gigabyte is launching. But, I am in the UK and saw the Gigabyte G1 Gaming edition on Amazon for £560 and snapped that up straight away but haven't heard the slighest regarding shipping date. My question is, in your guys opinion, do I stick with the G1 that I bought? Or upgrade to the Waterforce? Considering that I want as much power as I can get (have saved so budget is flexible) and also I dont want audible noise above speakers (my dual 960's whine like no before). I made the mistake of getting two 960's over a 970 before and dont want to make a mistake with a GPU again so any info would be great. Thanks!
INFO: The Waterforce is £750 on pre-order: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-1080-xtreme-waterforce-8192mb-gddr5x-pci-express-graphics-card-gv-n1080xtreme-gx-185-gi.html
The G1 was £560 on some sort of order too: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01GCAW1IA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

is the '800 new' in Pounds? if so then that sounds like it might be a 1080 Ti, the Ti is a much better card but the price is of course higher.

if the '450 used' is also in pounds then you can get a new one for just £16 more

I have an SLI bridge that comes with this motherboard, but am not against buying a different one for upgrading performance.

I currently have this Gigabyte 1080, not sure if this has anything to do with the performance of bridges though.

Not necessarily looking to do SLI right away, just want to be a bit more informed.

Aha, I wanted to make the joke, but you can never tell how it's going to go down.

Problem with PC's is I just end up dreaming about building my dream machine.

  • Dan Case A4 / N Case M1 - £200
  • GTX 1080 - £620 approx
  • i5 6600K - £235
  • ASUS Z170 Pro - £150 (not at all sure about buying an ASUS motherboard)
  • Samsung 950 Pro M.2 SSD 512GB - £285
  • Some Ram - £150
  • Another SSD - £150

Then maybe I want to custom watercool the whole thing for another £500

And suddenly I can't afford to eat for the next few years.

That's great thanks. Also I've just seen this. Any good?

I don't know if you want a particular brand, but here's a cheaper Geforce GTX 1080 from Gigabyte:

https://www.amazon.de/dp/B01GCAW1IA/?tag=pcp05-21

u/SimianRob · 1 pointr/bapcsalescanada

Also wanted to throw this out there ->

Amazon has it listed for $734 (at the time of posting). Not in stock, but they'll ship when available.

u/TheFinalMetroid · 1 pointr/buildapc

EDIT: Ignore me, I see your comment mentioning you already have your 1080ti!

This is a $200 cheaper 1080, although not available it's on back order. Don't overpay that much.

I mainly want to show some alternatives:

pc-kombo shared list

Type|Item|Price
:----|:----|:----
CPU | Intel Core i5-6600K | EUR 238,38 @ Amazon.de
Motherboard | MSI Z170A PC-Mate | EUR 109,39 @ Cyberport
Memory | Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3000 (2x8) (16 GB) | EUR 85,89 @ Amazon.de
SSD | SanDisk Ultra II 960 (1 TB) | EUR 219,00 @ Amazon.de
Video Card | GeForce GTX 1080 | EUR 719,81 @ Amazon.de
Case | Fractal Design R5 | EUR 104,90 @ Cyberport
Power Supply | Corsair RMx 650 (650 W) | EUR 99,90 @ Amazon.de
CPU Cooler | Dark Rock Pro 3 | EUR 76,71 @ Amazon.de
| Total | €1657.97
| Generated by pc-kombo 01.09.2016 |

The RMx is semi-passive, it will only spin up its (silent) fan under load (and thus it helps to get a bigger version). The R5 is another isolated case and an alternative, but I'd actually keep the be quiet. The Silent Base comes with very quiet case fans and is generally very high quality.

Instead of the 1TB HDD + 500GB SSD I'd get one bigger SSD, HDDs are often the noisiest part in a pc.

> Also what is the noise of the GTX 1080?

See https://www.computerbase.de/2016-06/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-1080-g1-gaming-test/6/

> Would an i7 be overkill with this budget even in the near future?

Not normally, but together with a GTX 1080 and a focus on silence it is not in your budget.

> Will my PC be quieter or louder if I install more fans?

It depends on whether having more fans allows them to run slower, and how loud the fan itself is. I would see how the ones that come with the case perform alone.

I'm getting a 1080 graphics card which is the best price/performance card?
The ones im looking at:

1080 Asus Aero

Alright peeps, top help I think I know what I won't be buying and that's another 970!

1080 for 360-380 sounds good to me, looks like i'll go down that route. I'm eyeing up this one, what's the consensus?

Price gougers exist in Germany too.

https://www.amazon.de/Gainward-Nvidia-GeForce-Founders-PCI-Express-Grafikkarte/dp/B01FUI0G4G/ref=sr_1_8?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1465596590&sr=1-8

That price is quite absurd, though.

Edit Actually, looking at other vendors too, it seems to be around 835~ Euro which contains the 25% VAT. Seems "fine" then, if a bit gouged.

u/AsakoV · 1 pointr/buildapc

Can there go something wrong with buying used gpu from amazon? Idk how gigabyte gtx 1080 g1 can go for 330 euro.
