I do.

Specifically how did this become Amazon's Choice?

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07LC9SCGC

Even ignoring the "tird generation" "forth generation" pictures on the left and the incomprehensible text, how did it get to be recommended despite being 3x the price of competing (near identical) products from

Apple: https://www.amazon.com/Apple-USB-C-Headphone-Jack-Adapter/dp/B07K25P3N1

Something rotten is going on here.

I got this one on Amazon. It came in a Google box, and may be a knock off, but it works great. No hissing and it oges in my EDC bag for work in case I forget my Galaxy Buds at home.

Just buy the actual one. I just got one last week and it was in Google packaging https://www.amazon.com/Google-Headphone-Adapter-Type-C-Phones/dp/B07J28BYT9

Is there a reason that this is a better purchase than this one? https://www.amazon.com/Google-Headphone-Adapter-Type-C-Phones/dp/B07J28BYT9

oooh I stumbled onto this article after typing the message above. Some of these 3rd party dongles don't work because the digital to analog conversion is not standardized. https://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/2019/02/27/why-usb-c-headphone-adapter-cant-amount-jack/2971948002/

The Apple dongle is designed to have lower volume... at least when used on a Pixel phone. I tried a few of them and they were all like that.

Just order the genuine Google dongle from Amazon. (make absolutely sure you order the one sold and shipped by Amazon.com, do not order from 3rd party sellers on Amazon because most are crooks)... it's around $10.59 as of right now... free shipping if you have Prime) Or just order from Google Store.

Short of adding an aftermarket soundcard to the PC and plugging headphones directly to it, are there any USB headphones that are really going to send any better sound to the headphones than what's built into the Vive Pro already? Or am I really only getting an improvement via better quality physical fitting ear cups, higher quality drivers, etc. For example, if I tried these astro a50 with 7.1 surround sound, would I be getting more sound to the headphones than Vive Pro default, or just better quality from better hardware?

Out of curiosity, I bought this usb c to 3.5mm adapter and then plugged a pair of old earbuds to it just as a quick test. It sounded pretty much the same as the Vive Pro built in earphones, so I can't tell yet how to judge what USB sound chip is higher sound quality vs the built in Vive Pro one.

I never use wired headphones anymore as wireless are so much easier and better but I would put money on the USB-C to 3.5mm jack adapter is just going bad. I'd recommend getting a new quality adapter and see if that fixes it.

EDIT: Something like this actual Google one

Is your Samsung cable Usb C to C? I guess the problem might be caused by different resistor values in Usb A to C cables. Usb C to C cables are guaranteed to work because they are standardized.

I'll try to find other Usb A to C cables to test whether my guess is correct. Kinda weird because while there isn't any significant change to the charging technology, the older Pixel works with the cable while the new one doesn't.

For the headphone jack adapter, I think you need to use an active adaptor (with in-built DAC) for Pixel phones. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07J28BYT9/ It wouldn't work if your adaptor is passive. Although admittedly I haven't tested my headphones with Pixel 4 yet since I don't usually use them, so I may be wrong.

if still under warranty, call or chat with Google tech support... they'll send you a replacement.

otherwise, order one from Amazon or Best Buy... it's only about $6.

such as this one, sold and shipped directly from Amazon.com. (NOT 3rd party seller)
