I used to commute from SF to Redwood City via CalTrain, with about 2 miles of biking on either side of the train. My gear:

full finger bike gloves (possibly Pearl Izumi, but they weren't heavy)
Marmot raincoat
running capris
REI brand pull-over, pretty lightweight
GORE fluorescent yellow legwarmers and armwarmers (like this)
lights!! I usually have two Cygolite Streaks on the front and a Cygolite Hotshot on the back.
-I'd also recommend fenders or bringing a change of underwear in case you butt gets wet

It's not too bad :) I'm about to bike to work in the rain wearing pretty much what I just outlined.
