Im from Orange County, CA, 27/m, and I just came from Tomorrowland solo and I had never been to an EDM festival before. I learned a lot and I will be coming to TomorrowWorld but this time with a group of friends. Here is what I learned:

*IT IS GOING TO BE THE BEST FUCKING TIME OF YOUR LIFE.
There was a Tomorrowland Solo travellers group that helped connect with other solo travels so about 7 of us solo travellers ended up hanging out throughout the weekend.
Even if you dont go with anyone, everyone usually is super nice and friendly. I camped next to a group of british dudes that were super cool with us and we all ended up hanging out together.

Bring comfortable shoes. Do NOT buy shoes right before you go to the festival. You want to bring comfortable shoes that have already been broken in, and you will be dancing around for about 7-8 hours a day. You dont want to be nursing blisters on your feet from new shoes while at the festival. I learned this IRL. You will be walking. A LOT. From my tent to the mainstage was almost a 30 minute walk. and at TML, the Mainstage was right after the main entrance, I heard at TMW, its opposite, so it's an extra 10-15 min walk from the entrance to the mainstage, just things to consider.

At Tomorrowland, they gave you waterbottles without caps. Basically a capless waterbottle is easy to get crushed when stepped on. A capped empty water bottle on the ground is a huge tripping hazard to thousands of dancing fools as the cap holds the air in. At dreamville they sold the same water bottles as tomorrowland, so we would just take a single cap in the festival, and capped waterbottles when we bought them. This helps you in a few ways. You have to buy the waterbottle, but there are areas to refill water for free. Soo walk over to the refilling station, refill your waterbottles, put them back in your backpack (capped) and carry on. Helps not pay 2$ per bottle of water throughout the day. Also, dancing with a capless waterbottle can get messy, if you forget you have it in your hand, which happened a lot.

SUPER IMPORTANT: BRING something UNIQUE. I lucked out and brought my California and US flag to Tomorrowland, and since there were so few americans there, people often shouted USA! USA! as I walked by. I saw a group of australian girls walking around with and dancing with an inflatable Kangaroos, some Norweigan dudes with a huge inflatable penis, I saw a guy dancing with a flower pot.. costumes of all kinds, elaborate face paintings, crazy outfits etc. Basically, you want to bring something that is unique, especially rolling solo, it will help you meet sooo many new people. It will also make random conversations so much easier.

There will be some super big names at the main stage, but make an effort to check out the smaller stages and smaller names. At tomorrowland the stage work (all stages) was ridiculously awesome. I'm sure it will be the same at TomorrowWorld.

Prepare to get wet. Seriously. It MIGHT rain, you might get beer/water spilled on you.. you might jump in a lake. you just dont know. I used a sandwich bag (that I kept in my toiletry bag to make sure shampoo/toothpaste didnt explode on the flight) to keep my cellphone/wallet in. There are also neck wallets. See below

Your choice to do this. I brought a little underarmour Sackpack. not a full backpack, but just a small thing. I kept my wallet, cellphone, flags, and extra waterbottles in there. I also had a lot my tokens in there.
I saw a lot of Italians with neckwallets, something like this http://www.amazon.com/GSI-Waterproof-Necklace-Underwater-Swimming/dp/B0039L1Z24/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1408646917&sr=8-2&keywords=neck+wallet+waterproof if you dont wanna wear a backpack and keep it minimal. I would avoid doing the standard wallet in back pocket.. just because there will be a LOT of people dancing all up on you, and there is a SLIGHT chance of pickpockets.

IF it rains, it will also get muddy. Not sure of the groundwork at Tomorrowworld, but there will definitely be mud at the campsite. Simple grocery plastic bags and duct tape will make easy shoe covers if you need.

Take pictures, bring a gopro WITH A STICK, take video. I regret not taking more video and pictures at Tomorrowland, I won't make that mistake at TomorrowWorld. You will seriously meet some awesome people. If you take a picture with someone, and you want to .. stay in contact.. GET THEIR DAMN NAME. I'm still subscribed to the Tomorrowland Weekend 2 fb page, and every other hour is someone posting a picture with a person/persons with a caption "Does anyone know who these guys/girls are?!?1 they were sooo awesome blah blah blah, I forgot their names, blah blahblah, please help me find them!!!"

The big artists will perform towards the evening-end of night at the mainstage every night. while its super awesome to be in middle/front of the stage area when they are playing, move to the rear at the end of the last performer's set. Example: Steve Aoki is fucking badass, and closed out sunday night. We were in front most of the time during his set, but we knew he was finishingin like 15min, so we moved towards the back, and we got in position about 5 min till. which was perfect, because thats when the ridiculous fireworks/light shows/madness really started. and We had such a perfect view, and it was a lotttt less crowded, and the pictures captured the full madness of fireworks, a sea of dancing people etc.

That's it for now, I'm drunk, feel free to ask any questions
