I came here to make sure someone told OP about this. Also clean your brake bobbins/buttons and calipers properly!!
Chain cleaning you will need:
Procedure - Note that it looks he is using a rag instead of a chain brush
Brake Bobbins/Buttons and Calipers will require:
Bobbin Procedure
Caliper Procedure
If the caliper pistons are sticking, use a brake pad and the vice grips to lock the FREE caliper pistons in place and pump up the brakes to pop the stuck ones free. Don't pump them so hard that the pistons come out of the caliper though.
edit - added toothbrush to list of tools

But a clean rag will do the trick, just be very very careful not to pinch your hand/fingers in between the chain and sprocket while you're turning the rear wheel.
Some people use kerosene, some use WD-40 but I don't trust any of that stuff near the small o-rings on the chain.
Can't go wrong with a quick wipe down with a clean rag though.
Sorry I meant that I use the chain cleaning brush: https://www.amazon.com/GTSpeed-BLACK-Motorcycle-Chain-Grunge/dp/B00BDJ40Z8
I put the bike on a rear stand, turn it on, throw it into gear, then spray the cleaner onto it.
Kill it, let it soak a bit, brush it, wipe it spotless.
Then turn it on, kick it in gear, spray the wax on the inner and outer chain, let it spin a bit to fling off excess and bam I'm done!
The S1000R oil has to be checked hot, so I check that last once everything is all done.
