Try something like this instead, it works much better.
gv-usb2 is a great capture card. if you go that route, here's a simple guide for setting it up with OBS. http://iotku.pw/gvusb2-guide/
the type of splitter you want is a distribution amp like this. using unpowered y-splitters will diminish quality and increase input latency to your CRT. a powered distribution amp eliminates these issues.
Finally a question I can actually answer. For just normal Red/Yellow/White A/V cables I use this setup.
Option 1
Is there any reason you want HDMI? You can keep steps 1 and 2 from above and use something like this instead.
I can also answer any question you have.
My other option would be to use these guys which are powered and I will be able to use RCA terminals on both sides, and they shouldn't need an amplifier because they are powered.
Just look up an RCA splitter on amazon. I have this one because I split the signal 4 times which degrades the signal too much if I don't introduce AC power. But you could easily buy 3 of these since you only need the signal split once. Then run one to a crt tv, and the other to a cheap upscaler that prioritizes image quality over speed which feeds into your elgato.
I got myself a Diamond VC500 Recorder and this cable splitter. What kind of problem should I be aware off? I got everything (Including 2 RCA male to male cables and shipping) for 57$.
Any advice on how I should setup everything? I really only need this for recording, as I will record some matches of a club I am starting (Analysis and combo video purposes).
Using unpowered splitters will significantly decrease video and audio quality, all the videos on Youtube showing people using unpowered splitters are mostly for the Let's Play/Call of Duty crowd.
Recently I bought this powered unit for composite rca http://www.amazon.com/HDE-Port-Audio-Video-Splitter/dp/B009NK550I/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1403563545&sr=8-3&keywords=composite+splitter and it works extremely well, just take one of the outputs to the TV and another to the capture card. It doesn't introduce any lag and restores the split signals to their original quality.
