He looks, I think, too lean... I do think he needs food and liquids (indeally liquid food). He has to be an orphan to let you hold him like this.

Here's another good thing to give growing baby-juvies: quality rodent blocks. Mazuri and Harlan Teklad 2018 are good choices, and I believe Oxbow Regal Rat is good, too. Some people use this, but it is very costly compared to the alternatives. http://www.amazon.com/Hi-Protein-Blocks-Baby-Squirrels-Flyers/dp/B005JUQA5K/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top Don't get a block that's not on that list without asking (me, if you like) as there are some very bad pet food companies out there, especially when it comes to offerings for rodents.

I've found that wild baby juvies will nibble on block even when they do have their mom to nurse them. They just need to eat so much to grow that they crave them because their bodies can tell they are nutritious. Adult wilds won't touch them, as a rule, though. They are quite bland, and wild squirrels are kind of epicureans, liking a lot of flavour and variety in their diets.

But I'd suggest you get some good blocks for him. They're very healthful and nutritionally balanced, and once he is used to them they will help him keep growing healthily so as to overcome any disadvantage he has from losing his mom while he was still growing and depending on her for milk. As a rule, if they get used to eating blocks when they are little then they will eat them for life.
