One reason is probably because since the digital transition, most stations broadcast in UHF, CBC still broadcasts in VHF. If you have an antenna like this, those are better suited for receiving UHF signals. Yagi style antennas like this are usually better suited for VHF.

Anyway, the other problem is that the transmitter is no longer by their studio on Riverside Drive, it's actually out near McGregor now.
