I have been having the same thing happen, but not my wife. We bought a purple bed about 6 months ago and love it and also got a new cat around the same time. Not sure if its the mattress or the cat.
I did install a cheap air filter in our bedroom and it has greatly alleviated my allergies, so i am guessing its due to the cats.
I have this one (It's actually an air purifier, too) and the filters can just be rinsed out and reused. It asks me to rinse it about every 6-8 weeks and its on most of the time due to the high level of dust where I live.
Something I've found helpful is to run an air purifier near my head at night. I like to take only half a Zyrtec pill because I get too spacey in the morning otherwise. The purifier helps bridge the gap.
Just be sure to vacuum off or replace the pre-filter and wash the permanent filters every few weeks or so during peak season. You'll be amazed at how much junk it catches.

Sorry for the super delayed response, yea I just have it in the same room as my equipment. I have a 1 bedroom apt so it's not exactly a huge place, here's the air purifier I have with washable filters

It's not actually HEPA, I wanted something with washable filters and this still takes 99.something % of stuff out of the air. It's worked very well, I barely ever clean my server anymore :-)

Note that the particle size for 3d printers is on the order of 100 nanometers. That's .1 microns. Most air purifiers can only handle .3 or .2 at best. But, it will capture some of them and that is really good enough for their use.
I've got one like this that is well reviewed and I like it. Probably the best Goodwill find I've had. Got it for $40 and these were going for $200 at the time.
