I have an oculus rift and i sweat like a bandit, but i use VR cover for it as well as a bandana like this to the top of my head and my ears, headband
I've used these since I bought my Vive. You get two reusable and washable covers. The material is a little coarse at first, but washing it with fabric softener helps.
In case it's a concern, I also have a TPCast and this cover creates enough clearance between my eyes and the screen that I don't see the green line but not so much that I notice a diminished field of view. I tried other foam replacements/covers and this was the best I found.
You need a VR Cover and do you wear glasses at roughly 4 feet? If so, you need lenses. Then there are googly eyes, rubber condoms for your controllers or hmd, sanitary masks for sharing your Vive, extension cables if you have the room to use them, and an ac controller to turn everything on and off. There's probably more but that will get you started.

Grab these cotton VR covers. I got these a while back and they do wonders for keeping the sweat out of the HMD and the default covers. It comes in a set of two so you can just wash and rotate between them. Two things to note though, they are a little annoying to put on, and they're a bit rough feeling at first (although I think that wears off as you break them in).
Aside from that, these wand skins are also pretty great for keeping the sweat out. But I've actually come to like them more for the fact they actually make the grip buttons easier to press.

Do you think a simple cloth cover would be a better choice? That way the side notches would still be there.
Looks like the ones from Kiwi Designs are not avail on Amazon ATM.. I like them because they give one 6mm and one 18mm. So its good for having better FOV and then one if doing demos for lots of people...

I second OP's opinion. It's better than I thought it would be.
I got it from Amazon, and it's a 2 pack. My only negative is it took a bit of negotiating to get it to fit as you have to remove the existing pad/velcro and sandwich the four tabs in between. Once it's on it's perfect.
