So glad to have come across this thread! I too have a smaller noggin and just ordered the PS4 HyperX Cloud! based on the recommendations in this thread. I already have a headset from the Microsoft store specifically for my Xbox1 which fits my head fine, but it has a proprietary plug that I cannot use for anything else. Only thing to add is don't get a Corsair headset if you have a small head. I have to return the HS60 that I bought because it is way too big and made my jaw hurt.
Totally low budget headset I was using for long time - Ozone Rage ST (~40$). But this one is loose in head size - good, if you have glasses, bad if you are moving your head a lot. And you need additional Jack cable to make micro and headphones on one Jack.
Or the best of them all - HyperX Cloud (model I, not II). I'm using this now, a lot of people in fact are using these (mostly model II, but they are more expensive because of sound card you don't need). This one is for 79$, sometimes cheaper if you are lucky with sale. The nice thing is, that you can buy parts for them - for example, if you broke the micro, you can buy the new one, don't need to buy new headphones. Oh, and this one has 2in1 small Jack cable to make micro and headphones on one Jack.

dont get either get amazon.com / HyperX-Cloud-Gaming-Headset-Entertainment/dp/B07FFK13RY/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1536517408&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=hyperx+cloud+ps4 they made them easier to drive from low power sources made them 40oms and reduced a bit the sibilance it had.It work fine in pc and xbox to just marketing name for ps4.

Wonder if I plug the USB cable into the controller and power the controller that way instead of battery if the Xbox would be able to drive the Alphas?
