yeah the model 1 uses a different one than the 2 and 3. im pretty sure the model 1 is the same as an NES. here are some ones that will work

I don't have an extra, but I'm using this one with my Genesis 2. Less than $8, with Prime shipping if you have that, and much smaller than the original adapter. Also works with Game Gear.
