I'm confused if you already built it ("Hey guys. I recently built a PC, using these parts") or this is list and you have yet to buy the parts. I am assuming you have yet to buy them.

i7 3770k ivy bridge

i7 4770K Haswell

I'd go for the Haswell over the last gen ivy bridge. Reduce RAM to 2x 4GB = 8GB (unless you want to do rendering, video editing, etc).

Use that money to get a 700 series GPU or AMD R9 280X. Also a higher wattage PSU would be something to think about. You could even go for an i5 for the processor which would save you $100 which you could put towards a GTX 770 or the AMD R9 280X. However, if you want to record/stream gameplay go for the i7.

u/HateToShave · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I would say no. Don't get a new CPU. The only one worth getting, really, is the i7-3770k:

https://www.amazon.com/Intel-i7-3770K-Quad-Core-Processor-Cache/dp/B007SZ0EOW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1511726652&sr=8-1&keywords=i7-3770k

~$250 on Amazon. If you want lots'a cores, and productivity ability, then a Ryzen 1500X or 1600, a B350 mobo and single stick of fast memory (for buying a dupe later for dual channel...) could cost you not terribly more, say $50'ish.

There is always a little bit more expensive frames per second option like the newer i5-8400, with a Z370 board (as that's all that is available right now) in hopefully the $100 price range, and, again, a single stick of memory, for the previously mentioned later upgrade. That setup could cost ~$375 or so.

I have a 3770k, all delidded, does 4.7ghz, blah blah. But I'm kinda tied to it as I'll not be buying memory right now, that's for sure, but since my Z77 motherboard died I had to find a used one from China for $180 (it used to retail, new, for $109, ugh...). Keeping hardware as old as ours upgraded/up to date is a losing battle at this stage of the game. It's probably better to just look at a new CPU/mobo/RAM option.

The CPU should be fine, as seen on this video: http://youtu.be/vMqaQESngh0
..the cpu can run some intensive games. Allthough if you do want a serius upgrade, I can recomend the I5-3770K, for 335$, this cpu will max out anything you throw at it, not only that, but the K on it means it is unlocked, so you can overclock it to higher speeds.

I5-3770K on Amazon: http://amzn.com/B007SZ0EOW

Also what I forgot in the build, was a cooler for the CPU, the most efficent cpu out there is very cheap and cools extremely well, it's called Hyper 212 EVO and is only 35$. This cooler will be very usefull when you get into overclocking, because it will keep it at around 70 degrees even when you have it turned up high.

Hyper 212 EVO on Amazon: http://amzn.com/B005O65JXI

Also, I forgot to mention, the GPU I wrote is really really strong and can max out anything at 1080p, except maybe ridiculous games like Crysis 3.

I have had my i7 for nearly 5 years (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007SZ0EOW/r), and I've never run in to issues. A couple years ago I upgraded from an 8800gts to a 980GTX; I've got 32GB of Ram. I see no performance issues, and I feel that there wouldnt be a huge improvement with a new CPU. Am I wrong? Is there some way I can see # comparisons of my i7 vs a newer i7?

Yeah, I've been only able to find cores with the 1155 socket on Amazon (although I could try r/hardwareswap too...)

According to Amazon, anyway, a 3770K would be around $350 used.
http://www.amazon.com/Intel-i7-3770K-Quad-Core-Processor-Cache/dp/B007SZ0EOW

A 3570K is about $200 used (ignoring first offer)
http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B007SZ0E1K/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&condition=used

And a 2500K is about $170 used.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B004EBUXHQ/ref=sr_1_1_olp?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1451273748&sr=1-1&keywords=i5+2500k&condition=used

So, I guess, which is the best option?

u/sharpieeastern · 1 pointr/buildapcforme

Alright I made a build tell me what you think.

u/mothmanex · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

Amazon = $330

Priceblink shows that most of the stores offer it at $350.

u/Captain_Midnight · 1 pointr/buildapc

I'd go with the newer Ivy Bridge i7 instead. You need that and a Z77 board to provide enough PCIe 3.0 lanes to a second high-end video card. If you go with the older Sandy Bridge chip, that prospective second card will be noticeably bottlenecked.

But if you don't expect to add another 670, then you'd be fine with a 2600K. (2700K isn't worth the extra cheese, because both of them overclock, and the 2700K's ceiling isn't significantly higher.)

u/billyuno · 1 pointr/GrandTheftAutoV_PC

Sure, I'll play. I built my system last year, but it still stands up pretty well I think. Hope you don't mind if I don't do one of them fancy tables like others.

Case: Corsair Graphite Series Steel Silver 600T Mid-Tower

Motherboard: ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77

CPU: Intel Core i7-3770K Quad-Core Processor 3.5 GHz

Cooling: Corsair Hydro Series Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler H100i

Memory: Corsair Dominator Platinum 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1866 MHZ

Power: KingWin Mach 1 1000 Watt

Monitor: BenQ High Performance Gaming XL2720T 27-Inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor

Stereoscopic 3D: NVIDIA 3D Vision 2 Wireless Glasses Kit

And to top it off...

Graphics Card: EVGA GeForce GTX690 4096MB GDDR5 512bit Dual GPU

Currently running an OEM copy of Windows 7 64bit.

I would take a picture, but honestly my desk is kind of a mess, plus there's not much to see. I haven't gone out of my way to make it pretty, as it's just me who ever gets to see it.

u/LawrenciumSQ · 1 pointr/buildapc

I would change the 4790 to a 3770K.

Upgrade the ram to 16GB to give you much more speed in editing.

GTX970 is the best card for the price in my opinion.

This is a solid board for a workstation pc.

Overcloaks to 4,30 ghz and with the new ivy bridge technology they can work together, you can have it custom build.

u/Retro-Squid · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Personally, as more recent games are coming out and their system requirements are revealed, take Shadow of Mordor as an example, higher spec CPU's are becoming the norm, it might be worth saving up an extra month or two to pick up something like an i7 UK or US

u/i_dont_seed · 1 pointr/buildapc

I think this Asrock z77 has firewire, and you can combine it with this i7 3770k. This should leave you about $90 or so for memory (not sure if you can get 16 GB in under $100 atm).

These are last gen, but should hold you over for a while.

u/da5id1 · 1 pointr/PC_Builders

Unreliable: sorry if I was unclear. I was using US prices where Amazon sells the i7 3770K for $459. It sells the i7 6770K for $342. As usual, Amazon in the UK, like in the US, is cheaper with the 6700K 299 GBP – about US$379. I don't know about tax and VAT and stuff.

u/skylarmb · 0 pointsr/hardwareswap

Im not trying to be a dick but just to let you know /u/NIARTNAM, the price of that mobo/case combo brand spanking new is $190 so thats not really much of a deal. And if you add the 3770k the mobo/case/cpu combo comes out to ~$460 brand new.

GA-Z77N-WIFI $119.99 @ Newegg

BitFenix Prodigy $69.99 @ NCIX

3770k $272.00 @ Amazon

u/Burkinsen · 0 pointsr/HardwareSwapEU

Seeing on amazon it's around $300 used.

u/minerman2525 · -1 pointsr/pcmasterrace

It is $559.95 on amazon, so I think the tech-shop is giving you a good deal.

Here is the link if yo want to order it online: http://www.amazon.com/Intel-i7-3770K-Quad-Core-Processor-Cache/dp/B007SZ0EOW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1452092685&sr=8-1&keywords=i7+3770k
