but do you really want to trust a relatively unknown hardware producer?
Veracrypt seems like the obvious choice if you can waive the software requirement. Just partition your drive and add the veracrypt install utility on the unencrypted partition.
I prefer both LastPass and KeePass. LastPass for most personal websites and websites I have accounts on with work stuff, KeePass for keys that I keep locally for compliance reasons. Bonus points for using an encrypted USB flash drive, as a way to deter brute force attacks before an attacker can even guess your passphrase.
I do have good confidence in KeePass. An attacker would have to physically have access to the USB flash drive, find the drive's PIN (17 digits), guess the KP passphrase, know what keyfile I use, and have my AD creds. This isn't 100% security, but it works well.
This USB stick is hardware encrypted and definitely shock resistent, they also claim it's water resistent but I own one and wouldn't trust that. It'd probably survive if you spilt a little water on it.

Seems like things such as this or this may be the best options given I want portability.
Would you say they might be better options? Their price is much higher, but I'm considering the first one I linked.
