I'd recommend cutting out Whey entirely. I just did about a week ago and my face cleared up in a few days. There are tons of other kinds of protein but I've read that Egg protein is the best alternative. I'm currently taking some made by Paleo Protein and it tastes just fine.
My wife uses this protein powder
She is very lactose intolerant and any plant based powder was really gritty and unpleasant. The chocolate egg powder protein tastes good and it's very similar to the normal whey protein that most people use.
