Sounds like a potential allergy. Try a different type of protein. There are options like egg, vegan, goat milk, etc to experiment with until you pinpoint your problem.

How effective would CLA be for someone trying to trim about 15 pounds of fat? Would I have to keep taking it after I get to where I want to be?

I'm 28M with ~22% body fat and I want to cut this down to ~12%. I'm ~5'10" and weigh ~160 pounds.

DIET: I've already cut out alcohol and smoking 10 months ago, all meat except fish and eggs, sugar, cut down on carbs big time (eat pizza or enchiladas a few times a month). Last few days I've been eating fish/greens for dinner, a superfood smoothie for lunch, egg whites with spinach and salsa for breakfast.

EXERCISE: I was mostly sedentary for the last 18 months working at a desk, except occasionally going for a hike at a national or state park. Before that I was working on my feet and working out 3-4x a week. I've just joined a nice gym by my house and have gone 2 days in a row, resting today, going again tomorrow. I get a free 'onboarding session' which will help me figure out what kind of routine I need to set up, how much cardio I need, how much rest I need.

SUPPLEMENTS: I'm considering trying out CLA. Weighing out different protein powder options, leaning towards egg white protein because it doesn't contain all the fillers and sweeteners. I can add some greens and berries to help the taste.

I'm hoping all this together will be enough to get me to into very good shape headed into my 30's. I just want to build a healthy and active life, nothing less or more than that.

I really have liked Paleo Protein’s egg white powder protein. I started using the plain/no sugar or flavor added version when I wanted technically compliant protein powder during a Whole30. It works great for me and have kept using it for about 6 months. They also have various flavored versions but I can’t speak to their tastiness.
