Took me a while to get used to it, but now I much prefer playing with index fingers on a tablet. I'm just a lot more faster/more agile that way. I actually bought a reasonably cheap tablet stand that props the tablet up at a good angle at eye level, so I don't have to strain too hard to view or tap on it. I'm not a doctor (I don't even play one on TV) so I had to look up your injury, and from what I read it looks like it's some sort of shoulder injury? Anyway when I play I do most of my movement with my forearms and elbow, so I think you should be ok.
