for wireless android auto refurbished Kenwood DMX905S for $350. (I have actually bought it and installed in my car with maestro rr. the installation has been mostly plug and play and wireless android auto works flawlessly.)

for wireless apple carplay used Kenwood DMX906S for $450. (I think the extra money for wireless carplay is totally worth it, if you have an iPhone.)

I got an Amazon "renewed" DMX905S for $350 (https://www.amazon.com/Kenwood-Multimedia-Receiver-Certified-Refurbished/dp/B07G4JPQ1N/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?keywords=Dmx905s&qid=1572623186&sr=8-2)

Installed it myself and have had no problems. I still have the crappy factory speakers in my 2010 CR-V so can't say much about sound quality. My Android Auto experience has been directly related to my phone. On my old Galaxy S7, it usually worked but was crazy slow and sometimes wouldn't connect (wired). I got a OnePlus 7T last week, set it up to do wireless AA, and it has been fast and flawless so far.

It has always been sad how little thought and effort car stereo makers put into their UI, and this is true of the DMX905S, but there's no show stoppers for me and you get used to the minor annoyances.
