I've seen lots of kids with these lately and think that they could maybe help provide some peace of mind. I have celiac (similar issues with cross contamination only thankfully no possibility of death) so I understand what it's like to be eating a different food or sitting at a special table. My mom used to send a letter just giving her phone number asking people to let her know if there were going to be birthday party snacks, etc. so she could surprise me.
The good news is that nut allergies are one of the more frequent 504s that schools deal with.
