I would say that this amp together with this Kef or this Klipsch would probably make you happy and get you a lot of bang for your bucks.
Edit: Sorry! I saw that I went over your budget by a little bit, but it's only about 10% more, and it probably would be worth it.

Same amp factory refurbished. YAMAHAA-S301 2-Ch x 60 Watts Integrated Amplifier w/ Built-in DAC
$349.99$269.99. However with the added radio tuner is a better value, ONKYOTX-8140 2-Ch x 80 Watts Network Stereo Receiver$399.99$199.99.The KEF Q150 are overpriced at $400+ and were a good buy when they go on sale for $300. To me, the 5.25" Wavecrest Audio HVL-1, and order on sale at Ascend $80 each + shipping, are just as good as the previous Q100 version I demoed.
The RP-160M are 6.5" mid drive speakers, the RP-500M are a newer version but smaller 5.25" mid bass driver speakers.
The, Klipsch RP-160M are the previous model to the RP-600M that replaced them last year. If not adding a subwoofer, go for 6.5" RP-160M $340. The 5.25" Klipsch RP-150M only saves $40.
The 6.5" Infinity Reference 152 $175 refurbished and 5.25" Infinity Reference 152 $140 refurbished are a good alternative to the Klipsch.
Or 6.5" Ascend CBM-170s $300 + $30 shipping and 6.5" HSU HB-1 MK2 $280 + $60 shipping.
