I suspect it would be. Kinda in the realm of sweet soy sauce.

I mean, you could just do it yourself. Pure lead is quite easy to obtain, as fishing weights etc, and you just need to grind it to a powder, and then blow torch it, at above 600°C, until you get an off white/beige powder. That's PbO.

Or if you life somewhere that lead naturally occurs, it'll be lead sulfide, which turns into PbO at 1000°C under air.


You obviously don't need much, just a few grams of lead filings would be enough to create 50 mg for a 'safe' taste test.


Once you have the PbO, you should be able to just mix it was glutamic acid in water, and obtain lead (ii) glutamate, analogous to how lead(ii)acetate is formed.
