It's a German company and probably not selling outside of Europe. It was traditional brand back in the tube days one could say but they are now just a nameless reseller that uses other companies tech.
Mine is not the best set in the world (the store I bought it had a time limited no cost credit program) but I managed to get some great picture quality out of it. Recalibrating using at least test pictures is a must though.

Some personal tips: Don't listen to store reps, because 9 out of ten times they don't know jack shit and only try to sell you something. If you buy locally make your mind up what you want before you go in the store and stick to it.
And if you concerned about black levels consider placing a light source behind your tv. In a dark room, that really makes a huge difference. And it's is really atmospheric.
