I don't know about you, but even if I back in my eyes are a good 6' back from the front of my car and that doesn't do me a lot of good if the view is blocked on either side of me by large vehicles.

Also the cameras aren't expensive, you can buy them on amazon complete with LCD and wiring for $35. When they become mandatory next year I'm sure they'll add like $10 to the price of a car, well worth it.

I installed this in my mother's 2014 Corolla. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0167ZKAK6/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_xnTAyb58STC2B

It's cheap and no name but works great. I opted for a mirror/screen because it'd be the most intuitive for my mother and would maintain an OEM look.

I see no reason for a wireless camera. It's not hard to run a wire the length of a car and it's just another way for something to fail (sync issues, interference, latency, etc). Wired will always be more reliable.

A while back I picked up [this]
(https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0167ZKAK6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) for my truck. Video quality is fine enough (I'm not watching movies on the thing), and the mirror is bigger than stock so that was a plus. It's a bit hard to see in direct sunlight and with polarized sunglasses on, but it's still manageable. The camera that came with it got moisture inside of it so I picked up this camera to replace it, and it's been fine ever since. Installation is also very easy, it involves cutting into your tail light wiring though.

Just a warning, these are cheapo Chinese brands, so if you're weary about that stuff, then look elsewhere. I've had no issues (besides the first camera) and these things do the job, if you need just a backup camera.

I put this one on my wife’s van, it was pretty easy once I figured out how to get behind the panel on the rear hatch to the reverse lights wiring.
