I wonder if that's why some people are having issues with lenses...those aren't supposed to stay on. They're like the little film protectors that come on phones, just to protect from dust during shipping.

If youre worried about the lenses, get lens protectors
I used some cheapies from Amazon (same pic advertising lens protectors everywhere - ebay, aliexpress, etc) and they were crap. The Quest lens is curved, and the film is flat, so the edges end up wrinkled. Smoothing out air bubbles was impossible, so yeah, they did affect visual clarity. Someone on FB said they used low heat to mold the film to match the lens curve; I'm not that motivated nor am I going near my Quest with a heat gun. I ended up settling on 3d-printed rings for protecting the lenses from glasses. I also tried WidmoVR plano lenses but they were so thick they hit my glasses, even with the spacer. Try looking up the "nerf mod" for a cheap solution as well.
