The cheapest I found the rifle online currently is here for $393. Assume it's been lightly to moderately used, but still in excellent cosmetic and working conditions, I'd say 20% mark down is probably fair, bringing the rifle to about $315.

I don't know any scopes just by sight, (heh get it?) so I'm assuming that's an inexpensive Leupold rimfire, like the VX-Freedom at this link, priced at 196, so let's round to $200 for ease of calculation. Assume decent rings, let's add another $30 or so. 80% of $230 would be $184.

So far my total calculations are $315 for the rifle and $184 for the scope and rings, bringing that total to $499 on the dot. I don't know what brand the soft case is, but the Galen I bought at Walmart has been flawless for any of my .22 bolt guns so far, and it was like $13, so I'd say maybe $510 at this point.

What is good .22lr to you? For your average stuff, I'd be willing to pay 4 cents per round to do my friend a solid, 5cpr for good, and 6cpr for match grade stuff. Let's assume, based on the picture that it's mostly Federal bulk/CCI LR/Mini-mag. Given the mixed grab bag, for 3200 rounds I'd say maybe 4.5cpr, so that would be $144.

All together for your friends stuff, I think a fairly reasonable offer for both parties (maybe even a little generous for you) is $650 on the nose. My two cents is if you're really interested, it's on the up and up, and you are going to get good use of it, definitely go ahead with it. My favorite rifle currently is my dedicated "long range" .22 bolt gun. Almost went with a CZ452 before something else called my name. You won't be disappointed.

Not all Amazon prices are the best deals. With our the coupon code our price is better than Amazon. This was the first one I looked at.

I'd go with something like a Leupold like this if not a 3-9 or greater model.
