He sounds similar to some friends of mine, who are all crazy about beer and have tastings on occasion. If he doesn't have a set of beer sampler glasses, like this then I would get him a set and a few unique beers to try. Plus, I have a beer pub (The Flying Saucer) that I frequent that has a brewery night where you drink the beer and get to keep the glass. That's where I wound up getting most of the 90+ glasses I have.
